Zachary Telford Looking for Bounce Back Effort at the Winter Showdown

Bakersfield, CA – Zach Telford has had a tough beginning to the 2022 Spears Srl Southwest Tour Series season, but he hopes to turn his luck around on April 2nd when the series visits Kern County Raceway Park (CA) for the $10,000-to-win “Winter Showdown 100”. It will be Telford’s first start at the facility, after motor issues derailed the Garcia Racing Toyota during practice for the October Classic last year. Telford, who’s schedule concentrated on the shorter tracks of the “Tour”, will look to gain more experience, and make improvements over the weekend, after 20th and 13th place finishes at Irwindale and Roseville, the later due to illness.

“I just hope we have an overall good weekend, by making improvements both on and off the track”, Telford told the SPEARS Southwest Tour Series.

Telford began venturing out from his schedule in the Pacific Northwest in 2021. The Middleton, ID driver trekked to Slinger Super Speedway(WI) on multiple occasions, coming home with a top-10 finish in the “Slinger Nationals”. He has travelled south to Havasu 95 Speedway (AZ), scoring a victory in 2022. He made his first Northwest Super Late Model Series start at Magic Valley Speedway (ID) and made four SPEARS SRL Southwest Tour Series starts between ALL AMERICAN SPEEDWAY – ROSEVILLE CA and The New Stockton 99 Speedway (CA). He has participated in several racing series and at various high-profile events, having won over 60 races in his young career. He was also a Young Lion Legends Series Champion and “Sportsman of the Year”

Telford is thankful for his opportunity to compete next weekend and for those who made it possible.

“I would like to thank my dad (James Telford), Steve Teets, Mike Garcia and everyone else at Garcia Racing”

The Seventh Annual “Winter Showdown” at Kern County Raceway Park will take place on April 2nd and pay $10,000 to the winner of the 100-lap event.
