NEWS and NOTES – 2019 AT THE DIRT TRACK AT KCRP

OPENING WEEKEND: The weekend of March 15th and 16th will feature racing at both the Dirt Track at KCRP (Friday Night) and on the paved Kern County Raceway (Saturday Night).  The 2019 Opening Night at the Dirt Track will feature the 360 Non-wing Sprint Cars, the inaugural race for the POWRi BCRA Midget Series and the Bakersfield Hard Tops.

 

Spectator gates will open at 6pm, with racing beginning at 7:30. Adult tickets are just $20,and are available at www.kernraceway.com or at the box office on race night.

 

A-MOD TRIPLE CROWN: The “Holders Air Conditioning A-Mod Triple Crown” will offer more than double the “Winner’s” prize money for the three A-Mod events at KCRP in 2019.  At each of the “Triple Crown’” races, March 22nd, June 7th and September 7th, the winner of each main event will be awarded $1,500, second and third place finishers at each race will be awarded $500 and $300 respectively. 

 

B-MOD SIX RACE SERIES: With the support of Motor City GMC, the two dirt tracks in Bakersfield will host three races each to make up a ‘B-Mod/Sport Mod Six Race Series’ in 2019.  The ‘Dirt Track at KCRP’ will host three of the six races on March 22nd, June 7th and September 7th, the Bakersfield Speedway will host the balance of the six races.

 

Motor City GMC will offer up a $5,000-point fund for the six-race series, plus the champion of the series will also be awarded a new GM Crate Motor from Motor City.

 

410 SPRINT CARS:  The “King of the West-NARC 410” sprint car series will kick off its highly-anticipated’ 60th Anniversary season at The Dirt Track at KCRP on Saturday, April 6th.  The ‘King of the West’ teams will compete at KCRP twice in 2019.

 

NEW COMPETITION DIRECTOR: Former Kern County Raceway NASCAR Super Stock champion and dirt racer, Johnny Bedingfield will be the new Competition Director at Kern County Raceway in 2019. Bedingfield will be Competition Director at both tracks in 2019.   Melissa Bohard will continue as Race Director in the tower at the Dirt Track, and Bedingfield will act as Race Director in the tower of the paved events.

 

GEORGE ‘ZIGGY’ SNIDER CLASSIC:  The 6th annual ‘George ‘Ziggy’ Snider Classic will close out the 2019 season at both the Dirt Track and paved track at KCRP.  Saturday November 9th on the Dirt with the 360 Wingless Sprint Cars, the POWRi BCRA Midgets and the 305 Sprint Cars, the very next afternoon the King of the Wing National Sprint Car Series will on the paved KCRP half-mile.
