BIG FINISH FOR KCRP. DIRT & ASPHALT SPRINT CARS AND MORE THIS SATURDAY!admin
Bakersfield, CA – It’s the biggest open wheel weekend in track history, as Dignity Health proudly presents the Sixth Annual George Snider Classic. For the first time ever, this marque annual event will feature competition on both 1/3-Mile dirt track and the 1/2- Mile paved track on the same night, Saturday, November 9th. One ticket, both tracks.
On Saturday night, November 9th, the racing action will begin on the big Kern County Raceway paved half-mile featuring the “King of the Wing Sprint Car Championship” and NASCAR Super Stocks. Once the checkered flag falls on the King of the Wing 40 lap main event, the skies will erupt with a Veteran’s Day Fireworks Celebration, then the racing action will begin on the Dirt Track at KCRP with the Wingless 360 Sprint Cars (USAC WS Rules), 305 Winged Sprint Cars (WRS rules) and the POWRi/BCRA Midgets.
The weekend will honor open wheel racing legend George “Ziggy” Snider of Bakersfield, whose impressive career took him from the nation’s dirt tracks to 22 starts at “The Indy 500” driving for legendary car owner and longtime friend, A.J. Foyt.
“Now we have proudly grown the annual George Snider Classic into a unique show featuring the types of racing on both dirt and pavement that made Snider a legend in the sport,” stated Steve Hughes of Kern County Raceway. “It may be a toss-up between the winged sprint cars on the pavement, or the wingless sprint cars on the dirt track, which will fill your veins with more adrenalin during this great event.”
Also, in action will be round three of the “Motor City GMC/Holders Air Conditioning Triple Crown”. The non-point 3 race miniseries has awarded additional money to the top three finishers in each race, respectfully. The finale on November 9th, KCRP will crown a champion, and that driver will be awarded a GM Performance 602 Crate Engine. Only 4 points separate the top three drivers heading into the final race. The Triple Crown Championship will be decided this Saturday Night!
Spectator gates for the 6th Annual Dignity Health George Snider Classic will open at 3:00 pm. Racing starts at 5 pm on the asphalt track. Racing on the dirt side is scheduled to start at approximately 7:30 pm.
