BAKERSFIELD, CALIFORNIA (May 1, 2013) - Kern County Raceway Park, fueled by Monster Energy, will open its doors to the public this Saturday for a NASCAR practice and "Fan Appreciation Day" with free admission the grandstands as teams prepare for the "KGET-TV Opening Night" on May 18.


Kern County Raceway Park is a state-of-the-art speedway just west of Bakersfield, hosting 24 events this season as part of the NASCAR Whelen All-American Series.


The practice sessions on the half-mile and quarter-mile speedways will run from 9 a.m. - 6 p.m. with variety of race cars ranging from the CITGO Lubricants Late Models to Mini Dwarfs expected to test.  Pit passes for drivers and their pit crews will be $40 but fan admission into the grandstands is free of charge.


Concessions and merchandise will be available, and single day and season tickets will also be on sale for the inaugural 2013 campaign.


On May 18, drivers will start their engines for the first race at the speedway, with a 100 lap NASCAR Pro Late Model feature headlining the card along with a 50 lap CITGO Lubricants Late Model feature.  INEX Legends and Bandoleros will be in action on the quarter-mile, and Mini Dwarfs will hit the pavement on the 1/8th mile inside track.


Opening night front gates will open at 4 p.m. with the opening ceremonies at 6 p.m.  General Admission tickets for this historic night will be $20 for adults, seniors 65+, active military, and children ages 6-15 are $10, and children 5 and under are free.  A Family Pass with two adult tickets and two senior or child tickets is $52.  Reserved stadium seating is $25.
